FOOD & ENTERTAINMENT

Samy’s Photo Gallery

Samy’s will be presenting in over 1,600 square feet of Museum Quality Photo Exhibits a full range of Images celebrating Samy’s Cameras 40 Years of business in Los Angeles.

Included Images will feature the History of Samy’s Camera from its beginnings, The LA Times will be showcasing over 40 years of its most Iconic Images they have published during that period, Images from Samy’s Photo School, Samy’s Outreach program, and Samy’s involvement with the Fredric Roberts Photography Workshops , Giving Students a Voice Through Photography. The Finalists and winners from our LA Times “Capture LA” Still Photography Contest will be on display.

In addition, we will be displaying amazing Fine Art works from many of the Top LA Photographers featuring Los Angeles, Hollywood, and Commercial Photography, with works from Anthony Friedkin, Gil Garcetti, Ralph Starkweather, Rob Shanahan, Kimberly Genevieve, Douglas Kirkland, Al Satterwhite, and many more.

This exhibit will be a World Class display of everything Los Angeles has to offer, and a fun trip down memory lane for many of us.

The 4K Experience

PhotoCon LA attendees will have the opportunity to experience 4K Digital Projection. A state of the art digital theater featuring a 4k Digital Projection System and Dolby Surround Sound audio will allow the audience to see and hear in a brand new way. Both days of PhotoCon LA will feature a showcase of the wonders of digital video and images from many of the event’s vendors including Canon, Nikon, Panasonic & Fujifilm.

At 11:45 on both Saturday and Sunday, the artisans and craft of still and motion photography wil be honored through a screening of Michael Apted’s “Bending the Light”, documentary. Sponsored by Canon, Apted (The Up Series, Masters Of Sex, The World is Not Enough) explores the relationship between artisans who create camera lenses and the masters of light who use them to capture their art form.

Attendees will be able to view the finalists and winners of the “Capturing LA” short film competion, which was co-sponsored by Samy’s Camera and the Audience Awards.
